Aegina, as Beautiful as the Cosmopolitan Islands
Named after the daughter of the river god Asopus, Aegina is a lovely Saronic island just 35 minutes away from Piraeus. Aegina is home to two quite famous temples, the temples of Aphaia and Apollo. While the remnants of the temple of Apollo consist of just a Doric column, the temple of Aphaia is one of the best preserved Doric temples in Greece and a quite ravishing one too. The port of Aegina is just as, with the colorful caiques lined to make your eyes wander as you stroll. Aegina is also known for its many churches and for its water park. Aegina, while not as popular as the cosmopolitan Greek islands, has obviously no reason to be jealous of them.
