Athens, Where the Myth of Ancient Greece Still Lives
You’ve probably heard a lot of things about Athens. Athens is the capital of Greece and the centre of operations, where most of the beautiful sites of Greece are situated. Athens is without a doubt a myth for those who haven’t visited it and a nostalgic dream for those who have. Where can someone start? The Acropolis and the Parthenon, this famous temple of architectural beauty, are only the beginning. The Erechtheio, a temple dedicated to the mythical hero-king Erechtheus; the Odeum of Herod Atticus, which is to this day used as a theatre; the Syntagma square, where the evzones stand guard over the monument of the Unknown Soldier; Plaka, the quarter of the gods, the montmarte of Athens; Piraeus, the port of Athens, with the harbors of Mikrolimano and Pasalimani. Athens, named after and dedicated to the Goddess of Wisdom Athena, is not only one of the most important ancient capitals of the Western world but, as you can see, one of the most ravishing ones too.
