Ioannina, a Rich City within the Lake

Ioannina is the largest city and capital of Epiros. Mentioned in the book The Count of Monte Cristo, Ioannina is mostly a modern city, but also rich in historic memories. The first thing you notice in Ioannina is that it’s almost surrounded by a lake, the lake of Pamvotis. But even though that’s probably the most interesting feature of Ioannina, it’s not the only! What should be mentioned first? The old fortress of the Despots? The Clock, built in 1905 by Periklis Mellirhytos, which dominates the main square?
