City:(Kalambaka) Kalambaka, Surrounded by BeautyBuilt on the feet of Meteora, Kalambaka is mostly known as the gateway to them and to many other sights, such as Aspropotamos (White River), Chasia and mount Koziaka. To be honest, Kalambaka is not what you would call a holiday destination; it’s the perfect place to be used as a base of operations to explore and visit all the beautiful places that surround it, with the Meteora first on that list of course. Having been burnt down by the Nazis in World War II, Kalambaka is almost entirely modern and perhaps the most important monument you’ll find is the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. |
