City:(Poros) Poros, a Safe Station for ExplorersPoros, situated in the Saronic Gulf, is actually two islands, Kalavria to the north and the volcanic islet of Sferia in the south where Poros town, the island’s main settlement, a pretty place with white houses, is built. The monastery of Zoodohou Pigis and the temple of Poseidon below it are probably the best sites in Poros, but thankfully that’s not all! Poros is the ideal place to be used as a base for exploring the ancient Greek cities of the Peloponnese, due to the tiny distance between them. Poros has taken a step back in the tourism industry, thus turning back into the original Greek island it was. |
